Diving in Thailand
Thailand is best known as the “Land of Smiles”. You will often be greeted by “Sawadee Krap” or“Sawadee Ka” depending on the gender of the person giving the greeting. Getting into Thailand is very easy with many international airports well connected roads via the neighbouring countries. Thailand has a tropical climate with warm weather throughout the year.
You can dive in Thailand anytime during the year! The best diving conditions in Andaman Sea is from November to April. From the months of April to October, the Gulf of Thailand has very good conditions.

Scuba diving locations:
On the west coast of Thailand, Andaman Sea is probably the most well-known diving destination. You can easily access the dive sites from Phuket or Khao Lak. Similan islands marine national park made up of nine beautiful islands are best explored on a liveaboard.
Further south, you can still explore the Andaman Sea from the stunning island of Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe or the town of Krabi. Hin Deang and Hin Muang remains as two of the best known dive sites in this area.
Over the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Tao, Koh Samui and Koh Chang are probably the best-known place for diving. The island of Koh Tao has over 50 dive centres with chances of spotting whale sharks in the right season. Many families extend their vacations on the huge island of Koh Samui with modern amenities. For people looking for a quieter spot, head over to Koh Chang where you can find a beach all for yourself!
Diving courses available:
All levels of scuba diving courses are available in Thailand. As many dive sites go beyond 18m, a Deep Diver speciality or Advanced Adventure Diver program is highly recommended. There are also various dive centers offering Sidemount and solo diver courses which is gaining lots of popularity.
Technical Diving: Many TDI centers can be located in Phuket and Koh Tao. Courses up to Trimix and Rebreather diving are readily available at these locations. But do you know that Cave Diving training can be done in Southern Thailand such as Khao Sok, Song Hong and Sra Keow? That’s right, many of the TDI facilities regularly conducts training at these off the road locations.
